Confirmation

Youth who are in high school and have not yet been confirmed are invited to participate in this year's Confirmation program. Confirmation is the perfect time to explore the history and heritage of UMC, your own faith and to confirm your trust in Christ. Confirmation lessons will cover six categories: our journey; our history and heritage; our life together; our beliefs; our theology; and our faith and calling. Classes will be held every Sunday starting on March 15 and ending April 19 (with a break for Easter). Students will be confirmed in front of the congregation on May 17 during first service.

What is confirmation?

Confirmation is the act by which persons who were baptized make their first public statement of their declaration or profession of faith. In this sense they confirm their faith. Confirmation is performed in preparation for reception into full membership in The United Methodist Church.

The Confirmation program in The United Methodist Church is a time of intentional preparation. It gives teens the opportunity to reflect on the most basic tenants of our faith and gives them a safe environment to ask questions. Confirmation helps youth to investigate to depths of the faith and helps them begin to understand what it means to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and to make their first public profession of faith.
