Our Vision

Why build a legacy? A legacy is that part of our ministry, our personality and our faith that shapes future generations. Everywhere we look today we enjoy the legacy of those before us. Foothills has long been an integral part of the surrounding community. We have an opportunity now to expand our ministries and share God’s love to a greater extent than we do now.

Our Goal

From its inception the goal of the early members of FUMC was to have a fellowship hall as part of the church facilities. The sanctuary was completed in 1984. Five years later the education building was completed. In 2006 a long term planning group was formed to assess the needs of our church. This assessment showed that we needed a fellowship hall. Far too often we have had to turn away requests for our church facilities because of lack of space.

Our goal is to raise the revenue necessary to enable us to start to build this fellowship hall. Raising $500,000 over a five year period would accomplish this and enhance the future of our church.

Our Plan

The Capital Campaign titled Building our Legacy, is the result of diligent research and assessment of our ministry needs over a number of years. We are taking action now by raising the initial campaign goal of $500,000 so that we can begin building. The balance of the building cost will be provided by participation labor, further fundraiser, or a mortgage.

The fellowship hall will have a stage and large central area that would accommodate either theater seating or tables and chairs. It is designed to have a commercial type kitchen, large bathrooms with showers and a clothes washer and dryer. There will also be space dedicated for youth and choir.

Our current facilities are pressed by use, and we keep turning away requests. Building use has included Guido’s, teas and fashion shows, pancake suppers, BBQ’s, memorials, Vacation Bible School, plays, musicals, choir rehearsal, recitals and performances. The youth activities include the youth play as well as meetings and overnights. We also have community activities such as boy scouts, girl scouts, PEO, Rotary, home schooling programs, exercise programs, and Spanish classes. All of these activities have had to utilize the sanctuary which requires setting up the church again for church services.

Our church has been hosting the homeless guests during the cold part of the year. Having showers and washing machines would not only help with that ministry, but would enable us to support programs such as Walk to Emmaus and visiting youth groups.
The commitment you make to the future of Foothills will give each household an opportunity to make a pledge over and above your ongoing tithes and offerings, projected over a five-year period.

What Can You Do

The commitment you make to the future of Foothills will give each household an opportunity to make a pledge over and above your ongoing tithes and offerings, projected over a five-year period.

There is no pressure or commitment required. This is an opportunity to make a pledge to the future of Foothills.

Also, please pray…pray for the ministry of Building Our Legacy. Pray that it will enable us to more clearly see God and take His love to others.

FUMC has always risen to the challenge, responding to God’s call. This time should be no different.
